Annette Bender Yasin (Gaylord,
MI) Tom and Annette just embarked on a new
venture in their lives - purchasing a winter retreat in Pasadena, CA. Annette did get ahead of herself in this recount
of the past 50 year but is excited. After graduating from U of M with a degree in Physical
Therapy, Annette married her college sweetheart, Thomas Yasin, and lived
in Birmingham, then Rochester
Hills, MI.
For 20
years Annette had her own physical therapy department
in a rural hospital in Michigan’s thumb area while Tom worked for General Motors as an engineer. They have a daughter,
Ann Marie, who is now a professor in Art History and Classics Departments at
the University of Southern California. Now you know why Annette is excited about having a
condo near Los
Angeles!
In 1991 Tom
and Annette retired and built their dream house in the woods of northern Michigan near Gaylord. Here Annette enjoys
gardening and activities with Master Gardeners,
teaches cooking classes to homeschoolers, is very active with the Society for Creative Anachronism (a medieval recreation
group) and does contingent physical therapy work at our local hospital.
Tom and Annette have also enjoyed traveling throughout Scandinavia, Europe and Australia.
They are having a full and blessed retirement.
