Fred Clogg
(Bellefontaine, OH) After graduating from BHS Fred worked
for a year at a local grocery store. In June of 1961 he started classes at Malone University
in Canton, Ohio. He worked his way through college
doing various jobs in order to pay his tuition. Fred married Vivian in 1964.
She is also a graduate of Malone

in Education. Fred graduated from Malone in 1967. “Yes, I did run cross-country
and track for three years and bettered my high school mile time.”
At the time of his graduation Fred was already
serving as pastor of the Georgetown and Springdale Friends
Churches near Cadiz, Ohio.
He served as pastor of these two churches for nine years. During this time Fred
continued his education, taught school for four years and adopted two children,

years. During this time Vivian retired from teaching after 31 years.
“Currently I
am serving as the pastor of the Bellefontaine
Church of the Brethren
and have done so since 2005. Vivian and I have been married for 45 years and
have two adult children. Our son Bob, wife Lori and three of our grandsons live
in Canton, Illinois. Our daughter lives west of Urbana, Ohio
and has three children which we care for twice a week. We enjoy working with
people, children, traveling and gardening. We also served as foster parents for
five years since moving to Bellefontaine,
Ohio”.
Fred is looking forward to being at the 50th reunion
and renewing old friendships. He has many memories of his high school years “I
will share one about Dan Biggs-BHS alumni president.
Dan and I took several classes together in Mr.
Becker's shop classes. One day in the 9th grade we got a little carried away
and Mr. Becker told us to settle down. We didn't. We were then asked to bend
over the shop tables and both Dan and I got to feel Mr. Becker's stick on our
bottom side. It straightened us out and
we took several more classes under Mr. Becker and he didn't have any more
problems with us. Mr. Becker was a very special teacher and was appreciated by
so many.
See you all at the reunion.”
