Warren Jahnke (Newburgh, Hts., OH)
“1960, if we only knew!” Warren
married Diane Bebenroth ‘63 in 1963. Warren and Diane had a daughter in 1963
and a son in 1965. Their daughter works at Cleveland Clinic Foundation with
upper management and is often asked to go on trips with world renowned doctors.
Their son operates his own repair shop and is doing quite well.
“Five years ago our daughter became a
grandmother-this news woke Diane and me up quickly. We are now the proud
great-grandparents of the most wonderful five year old boy ever created. He is
my sidekick, that is until his dad comes home from the service.”
Warren
worked for LTV steel for 35 years until 2001. “I went to work on a Monday and
was told as of Wednesday I no longer had a job. Boy that can let the wind out
of your sails. Yes, we lost everything we had and it's not as easy starting
over in your 50's.”
Diane had to retire in 2002 for health reasons after
30 years as a nurse at CCF. She worked on a medical-surgical floor, pediatrics
and the cancer center. In pediatrics Diane was honored with the Elizabeth
Minich Award for Nursing Excellence, “which basically means she was the best
nurse at CCF.”
Warren and Diane are both retired now. Warren works for a vender
for the county AD/DD driving consumers to their jobs or adult training centers.
