Lawrence Suvak (Raleigh, NC) After Brecksville High, Larry graduated Baldwin-Wallace College,
with a degree in music education. After
teaching in the public schools of Michigan and
New Jersey,
Larry did his graduate work at the New England Conservatory.
After teaching in the
public schools in Massachusetts,
Larry joined the faculty of Berklee College of Music, where he taught for
twenty years in the Music Education Department.
In 1996, a part-time
teaching position became available at UNC-Wilmington, so Larry moved south to a
warmer clime. It was at this time,
because of the part-time position, that Larry was able to do more and more
playing. He did a lot of work in Myrtle Beach, including
playing in the Jimmy Dorsey band, theatre, the Myrtle Beach Symphony, and
faculty concerts at UNC.
In 2003, Larry moved to
Raleigh,
stopped teaching altogether, and did only performance, mostly theatre. He works in North Carolina Theatre, a
professional theatre group, and also does many of the National Tours that come
through Raleigh.
Larry has been married
to Samantha for twenty years. He has
three grown children, and nine grandchildren, age five to twenty.
Larry and Sam sail
their boat in Oriental, the sailing capital of North Carolina. He also enjoys photography and spending time
with his children and grandchildren.
